OUR FOUNDER
Guru Maharaj Dr. Chaturbhuj Sahay Ji
(1873–1957)

Born on November 3, 1873, in Etah, Uttar Pradesh, Guru Maharaj Dr. Chaturbhuj Sahay Ji was raised in a deeply spiritual and service-oriented family. Though he pursued a successful career in homeopathy, his heart was always drawn to the higher pursuit of spiritual awakening. His deep commitment to meditation, self-discipline, and service eventually led him to the guidance of Mahatma Ramchandraji Maharaj (Lala Ji Maharaj), under whom he advanced swiftly on the path of inner realization.
In 1930, Guru Maharaj founded Ramashram Satsang Mathura, envisioning it not merely as an organization, but as a spiritual family united by love, discipline, and selfless service. The movement was dedicated to spreading Satsang—the practice of meditation, self-realization, and divine fellowship—beyond all religious, cultural, and social boundaries. His teachings emphasized universal spirituality, making meditation accessible to everyone, regardless of gender, faith, caste, or background. Service for the general good of humanity became a core tenet of the Satsang way of life.
Guru Maharaj embodied the maxim: “The more spiritual a person is, the more human they are.” His humility, compassion, and simplicity were boundless. Free from any pose or pretension, his heart overflowed with love and a natural impulse to serve. He devoted himself wholeheartedly to all who sought guidance, radiating calm and kindness in every encounter. Unshaken by circumstance and deeply anchored in inner stillness, he reflected the serenity of one who had realized the unity of all beings.
He lived as a shining example of how spiritual idealism and worldly life can be perfectly harmonized. A devoted member of his household, he approached every responsibility with mindfulness and grace—showing that true spirituality does not demand withdrawal from worldly, familial, or material life, but transforms how one lives and serves within it.
Guru Maharaj’s legacy continues to illuminate hearts across generations and continents, reminding seekers that the path to self-realization lies not in renunciation, but in devotion, discipline, love, and selfless service to humanity.
